No one is ever surprised to hear that nutrition is important for their health, but it may be important for reasons you haven't thought of. When most people think about improving their eating habits, weight loss is what comes to mind. Did you know there are many other, and possibly more important, aspects of nutrition that can help improve your overall health? Working with a Registered Dietitian (that's me!) is one of the best ways to make sure that you're eating well for your individual health!
Good nutrition can help you have better energy levels! 3pm slump anyone? If you're always looking for a coffee or sugary snack because your energy drops mid-day, it can be worth looking at your nutrition habits to make sure you're eating enough, eating consistently, and having balanced meals.
Good nutrition can help you avoid deficiencies! Whether you've been told you have a deficiency after doing bloodwork, or have reason to suspect so based on symptoms and your eating habits, there are many nutrition strategies that can help prevent a small fixable issue turning into something bigger.
Good nutrition can help manage chronic diseases! Many common chronic diseases, such as heart disease or diabetes, can be managed in the earlier stages with diet and exercise. Even if you do require medication, good nutrition and specific diet strategies for your condition may help you avoid needing larger doses or further medical interventions.
Good nutrition can help you get stronger! Is your goal to build muscle or to lift heavier weights? Make sure your nutrition is on-track! To build muscle, we need to be eating enough, including adequate protein, and may need to adjust how we're fueling around workouts to get the most out of your gym time.
A Registered Dietitian can help you with all of these aspects of nutrition, and more! Everyone's life, needs, and preferences are different, so you need a personalized approach to your nutrition.
