What brought you to Degree in the first place?

My best friend is the one who brought me to Degree. I had just moved home from university and heard about Degree but I didn't want to go alone. After talking with her we decided that we would be more likely to stick with it if went together. Since that first day, meeting with Kelly I have never looked back!

What was your first impression? How has it changed?

My first impression of Degree is that everyone was welcoming and encouraging. Honestly, I was worried that I would look silly because I had never really worked with a barbell before. Looking back I had no reason to worry because every single time I walk into the gym there is nothing but excellent coaches to take me step by step through barbell movements and I never feel alone.  

What was your first "Bright Spot"?

My first bright spot was completing an Open workout before the clock ran out. 

What are you working on now?

Right now I am working on staying consistent. To me this means booking my classes ahead of time and committing to them even when I don't feel like it. Sometimes the best feeling of accomplishment comes from when I commit to going to Degree on days where staying home is the most appealing thing. 

What is your advice to someone thinking about starting Group classes?

For anyone thinking about starting group classes I say just do it. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. I know it can be hard and feel intimidating but the people who make up the Degree family will make your fitness journey so much easier. At the end of the day I think you will be happy you made the decision to start in the first place.
