Our Nutrition Programs at Degree have been around since 2016! Years ago, when we were deciding what direction to focus our Nutrition Programs, we came up with 3 "C's" to outline our goals, and what we wanted clients to get out of these programs.
We settled on: confident, customized, and common-sense.
Confident is what we want you to be when making decisions about your nutrition. Through our Nutrition Programs, you will be confident in choosing foods that align with your goals, in knowing what advice out there is accurate and applies to you, and in how to be flexible to still live life while reaching your long-term goals. You will also be confident that if you have a question or need to troubleshoot something, your friendly neighbourhood Dietitian will have answers or know where to find them.
All nutrition assessments, advice, and goals are
customized
for you! Our biology, genetics, and medical history are all individual, so we may all need different recommendations. Our food preferences, who we eat with, how we grocery shop, activity levels, and cooking skills (amongst so many more factors) will also be different. While many recommendations apply to almost all people (yes, you should eat your vegetables), we'll help you figure out what you actually need to worry about, and then how to make it happen in real life. We're not aiming for the best theoretical options, we're aiming for the best options for you, where you're at right now.
Our approach to nutrition is very
common-sense. We want to help you focus on the basics of healthy eating first - and do this as well as you can! This is exactly the same way that we wouldn't ask a brand new member to do a heavy overhead squat before they were able to do a really good air squat. A common-sense approach means we won't overcomplicate nutrition - we're looking for the habits that can make the biggest changes in your health and fitness, not big habits that make no change just because someone online does it. We also believe that if something seems too good to be true, it just might be - but we'll always do some research to confirm, just in case!
