Life will get busy! Expect it! Learning to navigate stress is the hard part. If you are able to find tools to support you during stressful times, make sure those tools are sustainable and not a reason to throw in the towel!
During these stressful times our bodies can actually show symptoms in the form of physical, cognitive, emotional, and/or behavioral reactions. Often these signs of stress can build up over time - often months - and can last for many weeks once the symptoms appear. It is like a feeling of being overwhelmed with so much that you don’t know where to start!
By finding ways to notice stressors early on and dealing with them can often change how we approach a stressful situation. Therefore, navigating stress in a better way can change how we react to any situation.
WAYS TO NAVIGATE STRESS
Have a routine that works for you
Make sure you have a balance between busy times and rest
Take walks in nature and focus on your surroundings
Eat regular, nutritious meals and snacks that support your health
Don’t make life changing decisions under pressure or stress
Talk to others about what you are going through
Journal your thoughts and feelings
Hit the gym and do a workout
Focusing on what gives you joy and makes you happy! Do not beat yourself up or feel bad if you mess up! That is how we learn and grow as individuals; learning from our mistakes and learning how to navigate through life.
One of the most important ways to reduce stress is to do some kind of movement (physical activity) each and every day! Overtime, you will learn to minimize stress which has a profound, long-term impact on your overall health.
