Let's face it - sticking with a fitness or nutrition routine can be hard. Really, really hard.
When it comes to motivation, we really want to dive deeper than that and think about creating routines, with a splash of discipline to take us where we want to go.
Just like we don't need to be motivated to brush our teeth at night, or put our socks on; these are things we just do because we know they are the right thing to do and the benefits that go along with them (no cavities and warm toes!)
So, why is getting our workout so hard?
Because it can be uncomfortable, and hard, and perhaps make us have to get out of our cozy bed early in the morning in the winter, or, instead of heading home right after work to put your feet up, you head to the gym.
It's human nature to avoid discomfort; it's literally programmed into our brains!
With that, we need to make sure we have a few things in play to create that solid routine, where fitness is something you just do:
Make sure you're doing activities you enjoy!
If you hate Yoga, don't try to make yourself go to Yoga classes!
Find the things you enjoy, and the things you'll do even on the days you maybe aren't really feeling it.
Surround yourself with those who lift you up!
Find a gym, groups or people who want to see you feel your best!
Having some accountability buddies is a huge help, heck, working out with your friends and people that make you happy is a plus, too!
Have a solid "why" for taking care of yourself!
Why do you want to workout?
What is the drive that pushes you out of bed, or gets you to book the appointment or class?
Is it your Kids? To be healthy for your family? Maybe to avoid chronic/acute illness. Maybe you do it for your mental health.
Regardless of your reason, it's so important to know what that is. It will become your guiding light when things get tough and you want to throw in the towel.
