Weekly Member Update August 3 – 8, 2026

Hey Fam!
Happy August, everyone!

August is is a great time to really hammer down these last few weeks of summer as we look to transition to fall schedules with families, work, other activities. It’s also a great time to step back, check out your calendar and make sure you’ve got your workouts planned in.

Everyone at Degree (that’s you!) knows so well that the getting to the gym is something we just do. We know we don’t really ‘have’ to, but we know that hitting up a couple or three classes a week, or getting to our 1:1 appointments or Wellness Coaching classes is the one thing that makes a huge impact on our life (current and future).

By making your workouts something you just do; something you don’t need to negotiate, something your family just knows you do, you’ve overcome one of the main roadblocks for people looking to start a routine – trying to fit a circle in a square so to speak 🙂

If we go about exercise as something we have to do, well, no one likes to get told they have to do something, right? Those with small kids raise your hands, haha!

Looking at it like I “get to go to the gym”, “I get to see my gym family”, “I get to see Coach and tell them about my weekend”, “I get an hour or 30 minutes to myself”…. all the reasons.

So, on the days that are tough, and you’re wondering if you’ll get to class, or hovering over that ‘cancel reservation’ button, remember we get to do this stuff. It’s not always easy, but benefit in the long run far exceeds any reason to not.

See you in the gym, Fam!

This Norwegian 4 x style workout alternates short, high-quality work intervals with dedicated recovery periods to keep your output high throughout both rounds of the circuit.

Norwegian 4X4 method high-intensity interval training (HIIT) protocol designed to improve cardiovascular fitness and increase VO₂ max. While we aren’t doing the EXACT replica, it’s pretty close with the same overall benefits.

Wednesday, August 5
Week 2/2 of our Poliquin’s 6-12-25 protocol for the musculature of the back. The 6-12-25 is a training method that was originally popularized by Charles Poliquin. It’s great for improving body composition, stimulating hypertrophy and developing strength endurance. You’ll use the same exercises from last week so look to improve form, maybe had a little bit of weight if form permits.

Retesting benchmark workout “Based”. This workout is a fast-paced sprint that rewards consistent movement and smart pacing throughout!

Thursday, August 6
This Super Friend workout is all about maintaining a steady, repeatable effort. Higher rep ranges today so you’ll be splitting all reps and distances evenly. This will allow for a good work effort, but also a little recovery in between.

We have a super cool Wall Sit variation to share today, today!

Friday, August 7
This is week 3/3 of a dynamic effort progression focused on improving power production and bar speed in your Sumo Deadlift and Push Press. Every rep today should still feel fast and crips like you’ve got some left in the tank – this helps with strength building in subsequent sessions, as well, decreases wear and tear on our joints/muscles for better recovery.

This workout is a short one that tests power, coordination, and mobility! You’ll utilize Dumbbell Power Cleans and have the option to add weight to your Cossack Squats.

Saturday, August 8
The name of the game today is maintaining steady movement and quality positions with your Super Friend! Everything will be split evenly except the Run/Row – this you’ll do together!

Have fun and start your weekend off with a great workout!
