“Sorry, you probably don’t need to know all this.”
… says more than half the clients I work with on their nutrition goals. Maybe we’re digging more into their food preferences, or their family relationships, or the diets they’ve tried before and how they went.
When we sit down to talk about your nutrition goals and how we can get you there, I ask a lot of questions.
All the answers have the potential to be super important. If I know about any other medical issues you’re managing, we can keep those in mind as we set goals. If I know what your family routine is like right now, I can give you strategies that will actually make sense. If I know about the diets you tried in the past, we can figure out what did and didn’t work. If we talk about why this goal is so important to you, we can find that motivation to help you make lasting changes.
Everything you tell me might be an important piece of the puzzle, and I want to hear and understand all of it.
Food is a big part of our life, and can be a big piece of your health and fitness goals. But there are so many things that impact the way you eat:
– What your work and family schedule looks like
– What foods you life and don’t like
– Something you read online 7 years ago that stuck in your head
– Your digestive health
– Your workout routine and goals
– How much time you have for meal planning and grocery shopping
– How comfortable you are cooking or if someone else is the main cook
And so many other things.
This stuff all matters and can all play a role in setting up your nutrition goals so you’ll be successful!
Nutrition is never one-size-fits all – it’s all about tailoring our plans to fit you, and all the history you bring with you.
