You Can Do Hard Things
Written By: Coach Kelly
When you see a magazine cover or new social media add promoting ‘lose 20lb in 5 days!’ or, ‘see results in just 2 weeks!’
Run the other way.
The reality is this it is going to take all of us longer than a few weeks to see sustainable changes in our body.
It is simply irresponsible and unrealistic to expect these types of drastic changes to our body in such a short amount of time.
If we have been inactive and otherwise generally sedentary for 30, 40 years, how can we expect our body to change on a dime?
If we only go to our fitness classes or hire our trainer for 1 month and then quit, how can we expect to see true changes?
We can’t and we shouldn’t.
Here’s the truth:
For the general population – that is, those of us that work full time or part time even, have OK nutrition, and are overall ‘regular’ people – we should expect to exercise at else 2-3 times per week for 30-60 minutes.
This needs to continue at MINIMUM for 3-6 months to see changes on our mental capacity to a new habit, and our physical body in terms of muscle growth and body fat decrease.
We want fast results.
We want to see them NOW!
Put the consistent effort in and you will, but be honest and realistic that it will take time, and you must put the work in.
Do this and you will reap the rewards.
Sometimes we need to be real with ourselves, and that can be hard, frustrating even.
Remember, though, it’s simple enough:
Show up
Do the work
Plan to do it for the long haul
Sure sounds simple (because it is!)
Sure can be hard (because it is!)
You can do hard things, and we can help.
