January 2026 Newsletter
Hey all!
January was a crazy fun month at Degree; we hosted a fun “Try It” week and welcomed new friends into our Degree Family! We honoured our Members with our annual Coffee Week, and best of all, got to spend some of the coldeset, snowiest days with the best Crew in Seaforth.
We’re heading into 2026 focusing on excellence; that is, giving you the best experience possible whether you’ve been at Degree for many years, just starting our, or on the fence.
We understand most gyms can be scary. We promise, we aren’t.
We understand that sometimes we feel like we need to give 110% every workout, or if we can’t keep up with the fastest person in class then we aren’t ‘good enough’. We promise that’s not true.
We understand what it’s like to feel stuck, unmotivated, tired, sluggish.
We understand what it’s like to get tired of the hustle culture that gyms can bring; the constant pressure to do more, go faster, lift more, keep up.
At Degree, we promise to meet you where you’re at, learn where you want to go (not anyone else, you!) and help you create that path for yourself.
Scroll down to find out what’s coming up at Degree Fitness Seaforth, read our Member of the Month’s inspiring story and her advice to you.
We can’t wait to meet you!

What brought you to Degree in the first place?
My daughter, a Degree member, suggested I give the gym a try as I have mobility, strength & balance issues and chronic pain. So I started in September 2024 to get me motivated to stay active through the fall and winter.
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
Honestly, I was pretty terrified. As a senior, I didn’t feel I would be able to accomplish much, but I did what I could (Coach MJ is so encouraging!) During the 3rd week, I admit, I felt discouraged and a bit overwhelmed, BUT I didn’t quit!
What was your first “bright spot”?
My first true Bright Spot came during the following week – the 4th session – as I suddenly realized I was feeling stronger, had less pain and was moving easier – Empowerment kicked in and my confidence soared! I haven’t looked back. I love my weekly Wellness Coaching workouts and have reconnected with people and made new friends among the group.
What are you working on now?
Strengthening my core is my consistent goal because a strong core is what keeps us mobile! MJ coaches me diligently to ensure I am working within my ability but encourages and challenges me (safely) to do a bit more each time. I am amazed at how far I’ve come.
What is your advice for someone who is thinking about starting at Degree?
Try it. Don’t be shy, the coaches are awesome. And even if you have a setback or a discouraging session, don’t give up! By the next session you’ll be back in the game!

Restorative Yoga is a style of Yoga that helps calm our nervous system, decrease cortisol levels (the stress hormone), provides deep stretching, can improve sleep and so many other benefits.
You’ll use props like Yoga Blocks and Bolsters to really support your body in each pose throughout class.
