What does a HIIT Boot Camp class look like?

Written By: Coach Mairead

We know that starting something new and coming to a new place can be stressful and make you feel anxious. We’ve all been there!
To quiet some of those stresses, read on to find out exactly what to expect in our HIIT Boot Camp program, starting back up on September 9th! (Psstt… if your question or worry isn’t answered, email Coach Mairead for the answer!)
The basics:
Classes are running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 5-5:30pm at Degree (38 Railway Street, Seaforth). Classes will be held outside if the weather permits, or inside following all social distancing measures and protocols.
What you need to bring:
gym shoes, your water bottle, your yoga mat if we’re outside and a mask for going to your workout spot if we’re inside.
When you get to the gym:
If class is being run outside, you will set yourself up either in one of the chalk squares on the edge of the parking lot or on the grass beside the building. Not sure? Your coach will be there and will let you know. If class is running inside, you will come in the front door of the gym (preferably wearing your mask) and can go straight to your workout square marked on the floor. Before class starts, your coach will let you know what equipment to grab and make sure this happens in a safe manner.
The Class:
Class starts right at 5pm to make sure we use every minute of our short 30-minute class! Your coach will lead you through a warm up to get you moving and ready to work out. This usually also includes a review of any movement in the workout that may be new to you (or that you haven’t done in a while!).
Movements are usually a combination of body weight exercises, dumbbell or kettlebell movements, and banded movements. The main workout is designed to work your entire body, and uses different variations on interval training to help you reach your goals! Each class ends with a few minutes of a “finisher” exercise – targeted movements to specifically work one body part or muscle group. This is usually a chance to work our abs, butt, or arms.
After the Class:
When the class is done, we’ll take a couple minutes to wipe down all the equipment used and return it to it’s spot in the gym. Everyone will leave the workout space in a socially distanced manner and always with a smile under their mask!
HIIT Boot Camp starts back up September 9th and spots are limited! If you have more questions or are ready to get going, email Coach Mairead at [email protected] !
