I’ve got a new spin on an old trick.
Instead of focusing on weight loss, why not focus on decreasing body fat and increasing muscle mass?
I know – CRAZY!
I had this exact experience with a client yesterday:
She came in not feeling her best. Had been eating out a little bit more than normal, and was positive that her body composition numbers would be terrible. Now, this wonderful woman is consistent 90% of the time (remember this, this is important!)
We hop on our OmRon scale that tracks body weight, BMI, body fat %, skeletal muscle % and visceral fat. Guess what? Her weight was up a little bit, yet, she had decreased her body fat percentage and increased her muscle mass percentage.
Do not rely on weight alone to tell you how you’re doing.
Had she done these numbers at home with just the weight, she would think that she was gaining weight and nothing was working. Perpetuating this spiral of self doubt, binging and all the other nasty things that come along with yo-yoing
Instead, she decreased her body fat and increased her lean muscle mass by eating well and exercising 2X/Week with her Personal Trainer at Degree.
Pretty cool, hey?
Even though she had some off days her consistency the rest of the time paid off.
Forget about the number on the scale, friends.
Hire a Coach, and stick with the program for more than 1 or 2 months. If you’ve been dieting off and on for years, it’s going to take some time to get your body back in check. Trust the process, though, you can do it!
