There is no finish line.

When it comes to your fitness and health, Nike says it perfectly…
There is no finish line.
For most people, that can make us take a double take. “What do you mean? What about hitting goals? What about the final product?”.
Goals are good, or having mile stones you want to complete. Remembering that when you hit each milestone, there’s another one to follow.
Remember that if you ‘fall short’ (ie. lose 5lb instead of 10lb) you’ve still moved closer to that milestone or goal.
Remembering that you did not fail, you made forward momentum and can keep going.
All too often we see two things happen:
1) We get so tied to a goal that if we don’t hit it right away we give up. We feel like we failed, we’ll never get there, or, we bounce from program to program. Eternally chasing something, but never getting there because we overlook the small wins, that add up to big things.
2) We get SUPER close to hitting that goal (lost 5lbs instead of 10lb) but we give up again rather than recognize that, hey, you still made forward progress. Celebrate that and keep moving forward!
Your fitness will have highs and lows, good days and not so good days.
Sometimes you’ll hit your workout and feel like a world champion. Sometimes you’ll hit your workout and wonder “what the heck?”, and feel less strong than the day before.
The point is, there is no finish line. We are never a finished product. We continuously grow, bend, and navigate different variables each day.
So long as you have forward momentum (consistency!) you will never be stopped; there is no finish line.
