The Power of Your Breath
Written By: Jackie, General ManagerHave you ever noticed a parent telling an upset child to calm down by taking a deep breath? Perhaps you have even tried this with your child, or you remember your parents telling you to do this. Allowing your child to take a few slooooooow deep breaths can quickly calm them, easing the fear, frustration, or hurt they may be feeling.
If a child can do this, then we as adults surely should practice this ourselves.
The art of breathing has been known to release stress, ease anxiety, give you a chance to refocus, give you a boost of energy, and allows you to rest.
The breath is very powerful!
Focusing on your breath, inhaling, and exhaling, will allow you to ground yourself, like an anchor. As you focus your attention on your breathing techniques, all those worries of your day will eventually become less significant.
“Take a deep breath. Inhale peace. Exhale happiness.” A.D. Posey
Try this simple technique at home:
- Sit in a comfortable position on the floor.
- Close your eyes and bring your focus to your breath.
- Practice natural breathing and if your mind begins to wander, bring it back to your breathing.
“Breath is the link between mind and body.” Dan Brule
