Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about exercising, but exercise is only one part of the plan!
Improving our eating habits and our water intake are two ways to help you increase your ability to reach your goals.
One area many of us struggle with is getting our veggies in! I know that is hard for me some days!
Small steps lead to building better habits as we work to make those habits stick, It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Here are a few tips that have helped me improve my veggies intake:
Roasting veggies in the oven or on the barbecue:
This is a fast, simple way to prep veggies for a few days. I like to do them in the oven using olive oil and changing up the spices to keep from getting bored with the same flavors. I have found to my surprise, a love for some veggies that I never enjoyed before simply by the change of cooking methods. Leftovers work well to reheat, and to add into omelets or for a quick stir fry!
Try juicing your greens to get more veggies!
This may take a little trial and error to find a blend that you like if you’re willing to take the chance. I simply use my blender as I don’t have a juicer and while it may not be as smooth sometimes it still works and I don’t lose out on the fibre; And yes some have been better than others so I add some fruit or mix in some protein powder to make it more to my taste.
Be adventurous and try a new recipe!
Salads are everyone’s go to when trying to add more vegetables but can get boring if eating the same one all the time. Add in a vegetable you haven’t tried before, a new dressing or add in toppings like seeds or nuts.
Taking small steps to improving your eating habits along with your exercise routine can go a long way in reaching your goals on your fitness journey.
