Immunity and Exercise – why it’s important!
Written By: MJ Greidanus
Many studies have shown that exercise is good for you, that is nothing new to us!
So, why do we make excuses and put off looking after ourselves? We tell ourselves that we will do it later! I don’t have time right now! I’m busy looking after everyone and everything else right now! I don’t have time!
Did you know that even a moderate exercise routine helps improve your immune system?
When we workout it gets our blood moving better and our body responds by getting our immune system running better, reducing our bodies natural stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. Exercising on a regular basis reduces our stress levels which in turn potentially lowers our risk of getting sick or shortens the length of down time an illness may cause.
Our immune system is not the only thing benefiting from regular exercise; if you suffer from depression studies show that it can have a positive effect on you as well!
There are no guarantees in life and when a crisis hits our bodies, we all react differently. But if you can give yourself a running head start, why not? Why do we put ourselves on the back burner when it comes to our own health? Doesn’t it make more sense to be proactive and stay a step ahead of the game?
Taking the time at any age to look after your health and fitness is something we all should do. It’s not selfish. It’s not about being better or stronger than anyone else, there is no competition here. It’s about self care and looking after you so that in turn you can look after the people you care about. It’s about a stronger version of you so that you can do all the things you want to do. It’s about having the energy to go to work and have some energy left to share with those around you!
