I must be fit before I join a gym, right? The answer is no!
As a Coach, this is something I get asked about, I always ask after; What their plan is to get fit enough to join the gym or what does that level of fitness look like for them?
Generally, people will make a good plan to get fit on their own. After a week or two I will ask them how things are going and the response I get is “the weather was not great”, “I was sore after the first two days”, “I got busy”, or “something came up, I will start next week”.
These people feel defeated and are not feeling great about themselves, which results in them being discouraged from trying to workout at all.
For some people they feel like they need a certain level of fitness to join a gym or fitness program. For them to join a gym or hire a coach, they need to be able to do a pull-up or do a push-up or run 200m without being out of breath.
Guess what? I couldn’t do any of these things when I first joined the gym!
There is no such thing as base level fitness needed for the gym. If your desire is to be fit and healthy, there is no excuse, just solutions!
Everything from finding a friendly, supportive community within a gym, to being held accountable with one-on-one safe instructions from a coach.
Make the change on your terms; before you might not get the choice or chance.
