Check out this 4 part series on how you can manage your stress levels better, to improve your health, your happiness, and overall zest for life!
What is stress?
If you Google the definition you’ll find:
“a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.”
Makes sense, right? Especially when we consider the past 2 years.
As human beings, we’re designed to be able to handle small amounts of stress on a daily basis, referred to as “eustress”. That is, a moderate/manageable amount of every day stress that is generally beneficial to us. We must create income to pay the bills, so we go to work or have careers to do this. Physical activity puts a stressor on our mind/body, but in a way that benefits us in the end.
We need some level of stress in our lives to keep moving forward.
When this level of stress now creeps up to levels that aren’t manageable, again, we can handle this for a time, but not forever, we call this “chronic stress”.
A good example would be a big job presentation that’s due next month. The month leading up you might be super stressed out, not eating right, not sleeping, etc. Once your presentation is done and you’ve rocked it, that stress now gone.
What’s happened to us over the past few years is this chronic stress hasn’t been able to go away.
If you’ve been feeling:
irritable
frequent headaches or always tired, exhausted
a hard time falling/staying asleep
changes in your eating (not hungry, more hungery)
you’ve lost the desire/motivation/self-discipline to exericse
always feel stiff, sore, achy
Just to name a few.. You may be experiencing chronic stress, or at the least, your body and mind are trying to tell you to take a break!
Over the next 3 weeks we’ll be sharing our best tips for you on managing stress.
We’ll share experiences and tools from our Coaches, our members, and other tools you can use in your day to day life to manage stress as best we can.
