Who thinks that healthy eating has to be boring and tasteless? If you’re looking at another meal of plain brown rice, chicken, and broccoli, we’ve got some ideas for you to keep things from getting stale!
1: Buy produce in season!
Naturally different fruits and vegetables are more available and most delicious at different times of year. To avoid being stuck in a food rut, stock up in the produce section based on what is currently in season. Not sure what’s available? 2: Cook with others!
Right now, this isn’t likely going to mean getting to cook with all your favourite people, but there’s still lots of options. You could pick a couple recipes together with your kids or partner and plan a day to make them. If you’re living alone or want to cook with people outside your household, try doing it virtually – round up some friends, pick a recipe to each make or a theme to cook in, and then hop on a video call and all cook and eat your meals!
3: Try new recipes!
Check out your favourite cookbooks or websites and try to include some new foods. For best results, try not tackling too many new recipes each meal (1-2 will be plenty), pick a day when you have a bit more time and won’t be rushed, and read the entire recipe first. It can also make cooking smoother to get out and prep all your ingredients before you start cooking at all!
