If you do not have control and awareness of your movement mechanics, you may find yourself hitting a plateau and not being able to push beyond.
Have you found yourself getting to a weight in a lift where suddenly everything mechanically starts to look and feel terrible? You are able to get through that weight, but as you add more, the problem gets worse. Assuming everything mechanically is good with your lift, it may be that you have a weakness within the system, potentially a weak midline (core). Rather than piling on more weight, thinking that you just need to get stronger, you can understand where your weakness is and address it with some tempo training. Holding the weight in the top and bottom position of the lift for an extended period of time will help to increase the core strength (by having to stabilize the load in each position) and help to address the weakness.
