Generally, the rule we use at the Degree to give people a good start on how much water they should drink, will be half your body weight in ounces.
Now that the weather is warming up and we are working out in the sun, we are sweating faster and easier. We need to replenish the lost water. If we know we are working out that day and the temperature is going to be high we need to plan accordingly!
one or two hours before a workout we should drink 15-20 ounces of water and again around 8-10 ounces 15 minutes before our workout.
During your workout try drinking water periodically; we do not want to get to the point that we are thirsty. When we get thirsty that is the first sign of being dehydrated the next extreme signs would be dizziness, feeling light headed and getting a headache.
If we feel any of those when we workout we should reduce the intensity and sip our water!
If those feelings do not diminish then we need to stop exercising, find shade and drink water slowly. Safety of our athletes is our top priority! We want to know you are leaving happy, healthier and injury free!
