“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”-Mahatma Gandhi
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you read that quote – would you agree, or, not?
I was an in-home Personal Support Worker for quite a few years and would see this glaringly obvious.
The better that my clients had taken care of themselves throughout their lives, the better they aged. They could still get up in the morning, get dressed, have their coffee, and head down to their hobby of choice during the day.
The latter, I had some clients who relied completely on outside help because they simply couldn’t do it.
Sometimes we do have underlying health issues, and those are things that need to be managed. But what about the things we can control?
We can control what and how we eat; we can control when and how much we move; we can also control when we choose to go to bed at night and choose to wake up in the morning.
Imagine if we spent a little more time focusing on the things we can control, that will lead us down a road of health and happiness? Not burdened by our bodies because of things we chose not to do, or chose to ignore prior.
Imagine if we spent a little less money on take out or Tim Hortons/Starbucks, and put it aside for your health and wellness.
Most times we feel like a gym membership or personal training membership is out of our reach, when really, we just need to sit back and reevaluate what’s important to us, and make changes as needed.
Anything is possible if you have the will and desire to do it.
Health is wealth – how will you invest in yours?
See you soon!
