Instead of getting bowled over by having to quickly get back into the swing of things, let’s take some time in the next week or so to get ahead and make the transition out of summer and into fall smoother and easier for everyone.
Do you need to be more organized with your food and eating? During the summer, it can be easier to fly by the seat of our pants when it comes to meals, especially when our routine is different. As we head into fall, you might need a bit more structure so you’re not getting frazzled right when everyone arrives home from school and activities and work. Take some time now to start thinking about easy family meals, and make sure you’ll have the ingredients in the house when you need them. Even if you’re only planning a day ahead of time, it will make all the difference when dinner time rolls around.
Do you have physical activity built into your schedule? If your schedule has been variable through the summer, it’s time to make sure your fitness routine is planned for this fall. Take time to figure out what works best for your schedule – then schedule those group classes, book those personal training sessions, or mark your home workouts into your calendar for the day.
What habits have we missed this summer? If there’s a healthy habit or two that we’ve been neglecting through the summer months, it’s time to bring it back. Pick only one or two habits to focus on to keep things simple. Maybe it’s drinking water, eating your veggies, limiting your take-out at lunch, or limiting how much alcohol you’re having. With a bit of consistency, you’ll be back to feeling like yourself in no time!
